PowerPoint, Level 1 courses are designed primarily for students who have little or no working knowledge of this software application. Furthermore, if you are familiar with PowerPoint but have not created a slide presentation (with a set of slides), this level is probably right for you, also.

PowerPoint: Free Demonstration

So, you’ve never used PowerPoint or you’ve used it—but would like to learn more about its capabilities? In this "quick guided tour" lecture demonstration, see various products created in PowerPoint. See how existing graphics and photographs can be reformatted to be more exciting. Learn the purpose of the different PowerPoint screens (views). Learn about various print format options available in PowerPoint for notes and handouts. The presenter is Microsoft certified and known as a PowerPoint "guru." This session can be of value to users of any PowerPoint version (97-2003 and 2007).

Delivery: This free demonstration is recommended to start off a series of PowerPoint classes.

PowerPoint: Basics & Beyond

Why limit yourself to dull text-based slide presentations if you can enhance them with graphics? Discover the tools for designing exciting slides with drawings, clipart and photographs. Learn creative techniques to reposition, group and align content to give your slides that extra pizzazz. Identify the value of using the master slide feature. Create a slideshow. Prerequisite: Should already know how to handle a computer mouse, along with some basic computer knowledge is recommended.

Delivery: This course usually covers six (6) hours minimum and is often delivered over 2 to 4 sessions of 2 to 3 hours each. Should be delivered as the initial hands-on course of the PowerPoint series.

PowerPoint: "Make Nice"
The right design makes the difference

So, you already know how to use the tools in PowerPoint—but somehow your work still looks simple or awkward. The instructor is an award-winning editor/writer. She will share strategies to grab attention with graphics, photos and text that are modified and placed effectively in your slide presentation. These techniques can be applied to printed material, such as newsletters and flyers, as well.

Delivery: This course can be adjusted for two 2-hour sessions or one 2-hour session.
Duration: 2 to 4 hours

PowerPoint: Know Your Tools

This course puts a strong emphasis on familiarizing you with the Drawing and Picture toolbars (or "tabs" in PowerPoint 2007). Learn how to move, reposition, group, and crop objects. Learn how to adjust the color in photos and graphics. Discover how color is handled in different versions of PowerPoint 2007. Learn to use the AutoShapes and WordArt.

Delivery: This course can be delivered in independent sessions or a combined series:
(A) Creating Graphics (2 sessions of 2 hours each)
(B) Secrets in the Draw Menu (1 session of 2 hours)
(C) Get the Most from Your Photos (1 session of 2 hours)
(D) Manage Text with Confidence (1 session of 2 hours)
Duration: As a series, this can be a total of 10 hours

PowerPoint: Manage Text with Confidence

Don’t limit yourself to the "default" (pre-set) text features in PowerPoint. Learn to use text alignments and select font styles and sizes. Change text formats from lowercase to uppercase, title case or sentence case. Learn to select or stop automatic text sizing. Add and adjust bullets and numbering. Resize and recolor text. Learn to adjust line spacing and choose appropriate fonts for slides and documents. Preserve fancy fonts (text) in Picture Manager. Create and select text from the cascading style sheet. (CSS).

PowerPoint: Creating Graphics

Not an artist? Don’t fret! Create graphics or modify existing clipart in this hands-on training. Use the PowerPoint drawing tools, AutoShapes, and WordArt to create your own graphics. Resize, crop and recolor existing clipart. Group and reposition images. Create wallpaper backgrounds. Download images from Microsoft.com. Preserve WordArt and graphics in image files with Picture Manager for convenient reuse and stability. The skills learned in this class can be applied to slides, flyers, cards and the Web. PowerPoint: Get the Most from Your Photos

Don’t have Photoshop? This hands-on training is great for PowerPoint users and amateur photographers. Learn easy, yet powerful, photo editing features in PowerPoint. Use the Picture Tools to create several new pictures from a single photograph. Modify photos—resize, crop, reformat and group them. Create wallpaper backgrounds. Use the Photo Album feature. Download images from Microsoft.com. Change color photos into black & white or grayscale images. Convert pictures into image files with MS Picture Manager. Reduce the size of image files for faster uploading speed to the Web.
